Vision & Calling
In 2000, God called us to Cambodia for the first time through a deep personal leading. Even when we left in 2009, we had a strong sense that our assignment in this country wasn't finished yet. We held onto the hope that a door would open again once our children were grown.
This has now been confirmed. With the certainty that God is calling us once more, we've returned to our original field of service.
During our first time in Cambodia, our focus was on church planting, evangelism, and leadership training in rural areas. Today, we're bringing experience in different areas and responsibilities in "Support Ministry."
We want to relieve younger missionaries administratively and practically, free them up to focus on their calling, and encourage and support them. We're convinced that this role fits perfectly with our current season of life and our gifts, enabling us to effectively strengthen the entire team on the ground.
We're part of a large, international team. The OMF team in Cambodia currently (January 2026) consists of 71 members from 18 different nations – most of our colleagues come from South Korea, the USA, Germany, Hong Kong, and Brazil.
While our colleagues focus primarily on medical work, student ministry, theology, and church planting, we concentrate on "Support Ministry." Here we work closely with our international colleagues, and we're also actively supported by local staff members.
Practical Matters & Life
We're initially planning a three-year term. However, our heart's desire is to stay in Cambodia until the end of our active working lives – which, according to current plans, would be about ten to twelve more years. We're looking forward with great anticipation to this long-term perspective in our "heart country."
The national language is Khmer,while within our international team English is predominantly spoken.
Since our last assignment was some time ago, we were given the first three months to intensively refresh our language skills. During this time, we also wanted to immerse ourselves anew in the culture. Cambodia has changed and developed rapidly over the past 17 years – we're excited to get to know and understand the country and its people afresh today.
Our three daughters are now adults and living their own independent lives. Even across the great distance, we stay closely connected through regular video calls.
Additionally, our desire and goal is to see each other in person at least once a year – we're planning visits alternately in Germany and here with us in Cambodia. We're grateful for modern technology that enables us to share in each other's lives despite the geographical distance.

For us, prayer partners are people we can firmly rely on. We consider you an indispensable part of our team, because without a spiritual foundation, our work on the ground isn't possible.
As a partner, you share in our lives: We regularly share personal concerns, report on the challenges of our daily work, team dynamics, or current needs in our field. Together we stand for God's kingdom to grow in Cambodia and for people to find hope through the ministry of OMF missionaries.

Finances
Our work is supported exclusively through voluntary donations. Neither OMF nor we personally receive subsidies from church taxes or government sources. Each year we create a budget for living and ministry expenses and trust that God will provide the necessary resources through people who support our work.
What's special about OMF: Salaries aren't based on years of service, position, or responsibility. Instead, the principle of needs-based support applies. This means: Every staff member – whether in leadership or support – receives only the amount actually necessary for living expenses and ministry on the ground. This ensures that all donations are used responsibly and where they're needed.
If fewer donations come in during a month than budgeted, our disbursement is initially reduced proportionally. We carry this financial risk in trust in God.
At the same time, OMF has what's called the "General Fund": Donations given generally for the mission's work flow into this fund. If resources are available there, a shortfall in our personal budget can be covered from it. This teamwork ensures that ministry can continue even during financially leaner times.
Like any professional organization, we need solid infrastructure for administration, IT systems, and communications. However, OMF deliberately keeps these costs very low.
We gladly contribute this share for central administration. Because we know: Without the dedicated work of our colleagues in Germany and at the international center in Singapore, we couldn't do our ministry on the ground safely and effectively.
